Helping People Help Themselves..

Community living arrangements (CLA) were developed to provide care for disabled individuals in small community settings rather than placing them in an institution. Children and Adult Disability and Educational Services operates various CLA's in Delaware, Chester and Bucks Counties. The Community Residential program uses Principles of Self-Determination and Quality Assurance Standards, along with a variety of other areas to assist in effective care for consumers. The purpose of the program is to develop an individual program to meet each person's needs and develop their full potential.  An integral part of the program is teaching individuals to make choices and integrate into the community in which they live.

Residential Mission Statement

“To provide a stimulating environment and a variety of opportunities for people with disabilities

In addition to our mission, we will:

  • Empower each person to have control of his/her life
  • Ensure individuals’ function at his/her optimal level of health
  • Explore the unique talents of each person
  • Assist people in realizing potential in areas of their choice
  • Explore stimulating interactions with others in order to discover new
        interests
  • Kindle enthusiasm to support everyone with kindness, respect and dignity
  • Most residences are single family dwellings although we do own some condominiums and rent some apartments.

Staff to consumer ratios average about 2 to 3. Our direct support professionals have been with us an average of 4 years.   Equally impressive is the longevity of the management team.

Individuals are referred through the Office of Mental Health/Mental Retardation in Bucks, Delaware or Philadelphia Counties.   We also accept private placements.
